Ali Chavoshian


He has been working in the fields of water resources management and water-related disaster since 1994. He has more than ten years of international professional experiences in several water-related projects in Asia and Africa.He has joined School of Civil Engineering, Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Tehran in November 2011. He is director of the UNESCO Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM) for the West and Central Asia since July 2013. At this position he is serving as the chair of the International Drought Initiative Secretariat as well.
Ali Chavoshian is a member of the UNESCO-World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), committee on disaster risk management. His membership recommended by Japan Academy of Science in September 2012. His latest book is the Red book series No. 357 published by the International Association of Hydrological Science in UK in 2013 with title of ” Floods: From Risk to Opportunity”. His other book on “Large-scale Floods Report” has been published by ICHARM under the auspices of UNESCO in 2011 and reprinted again in 2013. He has also served as the guest editor for the Journal of Flood Risk Management and Journal of Disaster Research.
