According to the agreed minutes of the 5th RCUWM Governing Board Meeting which was held in Tehran, November 2007, and with the presence of Mr. Fattah, honorable Minister of Energy, I.R. Iran and Chairman of the RCUWM Governing Board, it was confirmed that the training course on Climate Change and its Impacts on Water resources be held in one of the regional countries with close cooperation with the Regional Centre for Training and Water Studies (RCTWS). After doing the necessary follow ups The Arab Centre for Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Land, located in Syria accepted to host this event.
Objectives
The goal of this workshop is to train the experts from countries such as: Iran, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, India and China with the new methods for mitigating the negative impacts of Climate Change on Water Resources in Arid and Semi-arid areas.
This event was the first joint program between RCUWM, RCTWS and UNESCO Cairo and Tehran Offices and so was of high importance to be held successfully in Syria.
