First Iran’s Category II Centres Meeting

The first brain-storming and review session of Category II Centres under the auspices of UNESCO has been held on 17th of October 2018 which was chaired by Dr. Ali Chavoshian, head of Science Department of Iran National Commission for UNESCO and organizer of these centres, in NAT.COM conference hall.

Director of the National Commission for UNESCO’s Natural Sciences, was appointed

With the decree of the Secretary-General of the UNESCO-Iran Commission and in line with the prospect of development, expansion and realization of the goals of the commission, and in view of the importance of promoting public awareness on the maintenance and preservation of national resources, attention to environmental and natural resources and the importance of protecting Iranian natural resources , Dr. Seyed Ali Chavashian, was appointed director of the Department of Natural Science of the National Commission for UNESCO-Iran.

RCUWM Attends Governing Board Meeting of German Category 2 Centre

The International Hydrological Programme (IHP) has a network of some 30+ “category 2” centers “under the auspices of UNESCO.  ICIWaRM is one of these centers. It also plays a role in helping other category 2 centers in their governance and program development. An example of this is ICIWaRM’s role as a member of the Governing Board for the International Centre for Water Resources and Global Change, or ICWRCG, headquartered at the Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG) in Koblenz, Germany.

National Water Scarcity Adaptation Working Group

Formation of National Water Scarcity Adaptation Working Group at the end of last year (1396), has shown a changed approach to water management in Iran. This working group is going to make an effort to make right what Supreme Water Council hasn’t worked on, such as reducing water scarcity tension and moving forward to a better situation in water-related issues with the presence of all ministers.
